Newborn sessions are the heart of Summer Dunes Photography. The baby’s first month is incredibly precious for your family but also challenging and exhausting. The newborn photoshoot should be a relaxed and tranquil moment, rather than an added stressor. My Winston-Salem studio is stocked with beautiful baby props, and with my patient personality and safe posing expertise, you will receive a beautiful and timeless gallery of images to hold on to these memories and to cherish them for a lifetime.
The process
01.
Booking
Contact me using the inquiry form at the bottom of this page, including your due date or baby’s birth date if baby is already born. I will check availability around your time frame, confirm the package, and answer any questions you may have.
Once you have reviewed everything and are ready to book, the contract and questionnaire will be sent to you to lock in your appointment. A $200 non-refundable retainer booking fee is collected at the time of the reservation. This fee will be part of your total package cost and will secure reasonable availability upon the baby’s birth.

Preparing for the session
Once your baby arrives, contact me within 48 hours to set up the session date. The best time for the newborn session is between 8-15 days of age. The session will be scheduled on weekday mornings at 9:30 am.
If your baby was born when initially booking your appointment, the session date will be finalized at the initial booking.
The questionnaire is due at this time. I will start planning your setups according to the color preferences listed on your questionnaire.

On the day of the session
Bring in your sweet little one and let’s create some magic and capture all the tiny details. No need to stress about the session, your baby will be in good hands.
Newborn posing strictly follows the baby’s lead. I will not force the baby into any poses that the baby does not seem to settle into easily. Depending on your baby, the session could last from 2 hours to 4 hours. If there are younger siblings involved, the session may last longer.
04.
Choosing images
You will receive your proof gallery within 14 days after your session date.
You will have 7 days to choose images per your package. If you booked the Petite or Grande package, you will have the option to purchase more images. If you booked the Luxe package, you will receive entire final gallery instead.
Upon your selection, you will receive the updated gallery with full-resolution images for you to download. If you have an unpaid invoice for additional images, the final gallery will be sent after the payment is received.
You can place your product orders directly from the gallery. The product will ship to you from a professional photo lab within 5 business days.
Working with Jill was an absolute pleasure, and I am so happy with our gallery. She is professional and I felt comfortable with my newborn and family. She was efficient with getting photos to us in a timely manner and I will cherish the images forever!

Summer Dunes Photography studio is located in my home in Lewisville, NC. It is scheduled by appointment only during weekday mornings.
The studio is fully equipped with a variety of props, fabrics, and accessories in different colors, shades, and textures, providing everything needed for your newborn session. As well as many baby essentials, including diapers, brand-new pacifiers, and sound machines.
