As a Winston-Salem family photographer, my approach to the family photo sessions is an unposed, relaxed session that tells a story. I love the photos that have a spirit, have a voice, that tell your story. I love the photos that bring people joy when they looking back at them.

The family storyteller

My family portrait sessions take place outdoors, showcasing the stunning landscapes around the Triad. While we can certainly capture some classic posed photos for your family album and Christmas cards, what I cherish most are the candid, unposed moments filled with genuine emotions.

During the session, I will play games with your little ones, learn about their interests and make funny faces. When they are exploring, I follow along with my camera. Nothing is more precious than those bright eyes that full of wonder. I often prefer not to have everyone always look directly at the camera, because the natural family connections give the images their true story.

The Family session Process

Step 1
Pick a date
Send me an inquiry and let’s chat! We will pick a date that works for both of our calendars.

For the best lighting, my sessions are scheduled in the late afternoon, around 2 hours before sunset.

Once you have decided to reserve your session date, I will send out contract and invoice to secure your date on my calender.
Step 2
Pick a location!
Family sessions are outdoors, I have many recommended locations for you around the Winston-Salem, NC. However, feel free to recommend any other locations you are interested in. I am always up for an adventure and shooting in new places.

If the photo session does require added travel, please inquire before booking. Additional travel depends on my availability and is quoted based on the distance.
Step 3
Pick your family outfits!
The family’s outfits play a very important role for a successful session. Outfits should be comfortable, skin friendly neutral colors that speaks to your family personally.

Prior to the session, I would love to talk to you about wardrobe choices. If interested, I do have a wide collection of client wardrobe choices available to you or your little ones. I would love to put some outfit recommendations together for you based on your preferences and/or supplement your wardrobe with what I have.
Step 4
Session date!
Don’t stress about the session—let the kids be themselves! They’re free to run, jump, and have some fun.
We’ll play games and be silly together, with the aim of capturing their natural smiles. And don’t worry, we’ll also get some classic posed photos during the session.
Step 5
Images delivery!
I know how exciting it is to receive these precious memories. For petite packages, you will receive a soft proof gallery of images with initial editing and watermarks within 2 weeks after your session. Once you have selected your images, your proof gallery will be updated with your selections in high resolution within 2 weeks and be ready to download.

For the Storyteller package, within 3 weeks after the session, you will receive the entire gallery of high-resolution images that are ready to download.

You will be able to place orders for prints and products from your final gallery. The product will ship to you within 5 business days.
